Unical conference centre |
After the announcement of the 2 weeks warning strike by the president of the academic staff union of Universities (ASUU). on Monday 9th March, it was earlier reported that the ASUU unical chapter would hold an urgent meeting to decide on the strike, the meeting held at the University of calabar international conference centre and the ASUU UCB has joined in the Nationwide two weeks warning strike.
The strike action is due to the non payment of salaries of it's members by Federal Govt over IPPIS.
In a statement by ASUU-UCC chairperson, Dr. Edor Edor made available to malabor radio correspondents at the UNICAL International Conference Centre, "We have officially declared a two weeks warning strike to press home our demands against the Federal Govt of Nigeria who are insensitive to the needs of Nigerian citizens, especially the academia.
They have not listened to us, they are insincere, they are dishonest", he added.
However, the strike action embarked upon by ASUU will NOT affect the 33rd Convocation ceremony of the University of Calabar.
